What this policy covers
This acceptable-use policy applies to anyone using Makerstead — makers and trade businesses that open a record page, owners that scan a QR or read a public care page, and anyone moving a record between makers through the desk. It sits alongside the terms of service (subscription mechanics and ownership) and the privacy policy (data-handling backbone). Where those documents overlap, this page owns the “what’s allowed on the platform” question. The list below is explicit but not exhaustive — the spirit of the rule is “care record service for the maker trades,” and anything that fights that spirit can be treated as a violation.
Prohibited content
You may not publish through Makerstead — on a record, on a care page, in a service-log entry, in an owner message, or in a transfer packet — any of the following:
- Unlawful content. Material that is illegal where you or the owner sits, including anything that violates export controls, sanctions, or applicable trade law.
- Content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property. Don’t reuse copyrighted photographs, copy a maker’s copywriting, or pass off a trademarked design. If you didn’t make it and you don’t have a licence, don’t claim it.
- Fraudulent or misleading content. Care pages must describe the piece you actually delivered. Don’t publish or accept transfers for counterfeit claims, fabricated provenance, or work you did not make or install yourself.
- Malware or files designed to do harm. Any attachment on a care request or in the service log is treated as content; don’t upload files designed to damage other people’s devices or data.
- Non-consensual personal information. Don’t publish someone’s private contact details, financial information, or identifying documents without their consent. Don’t publish someone else’s customer data on a care page that doesn’t legitimately belong to the bench.
- Information that presents a serious risk of harm in a care context. Makerstead exists so care records survive the hand-off — don’t publish claims about materials, finishes, structural loads, or safety handling that an owner could reasonably rely on and that you can’t back up. A fabricated care instruction is treated the same as a fraudulent record.
Prohibited uses
Even where the content itself is fine, you may not use Makerstead to do any of the following:
- Cross-account access, impersonation, or credential sharing. Don’t sign in as another maker or business. Don’t share logins across seats, don’t probe for another business’s records, and don’t open a business under a name or trade field that belongs to someone else. Going around the seat gates is treated the same as an unauthorized access attempt.
- Scraping or bulk collection from the platform. Per-record viewing by a real visitor is fine; scripted or automated bulk collection — of the platform, the public care pages, or the founders directory — is not. If you need a dataset, request it through the documented export surface.
- Compiling, enriching, or reselling personal information. Customer data on a record is yours to act on in the ordinary course of your business. It is not yours to compile, crosstab with outside sources, or resell — to a broker, to an enrichment vendor, or to anyone else.
- Spam, blasts, or marketing on the QR handoff. The QR handoff is the owner asking to reach your bench. It’s not a channel for blasts, third-party promotions, or any outreach the owner did not agree to.
- Probing the platform.Don’t scan, fingerprint, or try to extract non-public Makerstead infrastructure — undocumented endpoints, internal identifiers, or other surfaces not meant for the published app. Security research is welcome; reach out first and we’ll work with you.
- Training models on platform data. The no-train promise in the terms runs in both directions — scraping Makerstead content to train or tune a commercial model counts here.
- Using the platform to compete with the platform. Don’t republish Makerstead data, templates, or product design into a competing care-record service. Don’t resell the care pages themselves. The platform’s subscription is what keeps the QR resolving and the export available — going around it undermines the things that make the service worth using.
Enforcement and termination
When the desk identifies a clear violation, we move in this order: a written warning first, then takedown of the offending record or care page, then action on the account if the behaviour continues or is severe enough on the first pass. Where a violation also implicates outside law, we reserve the right to cooperate with lawful process. Where a pattern repeats across benches, we may publish anonymised summaries so the rest of the desk can recognise them, but we do not publish identifying details of a single takedown.
Subscriptions that are terminated for cause end the published care pages and the QR resolution immediately, rather than running out the normal 90-day publish-grace window. Exports of legitimate records remain available for the export window that applies to a normal cancellation, so the maker can still take the row data with them. Repeated or willful violations — especially those involving illegal content, non-consensual personal information, or attempts to train models on platform data — can result in termination without a prior warning.
Reporting violations
Email makerstead@polsia.app if you see a record, a care page, an owner message, or a piece of platform behaviour that breaks the rules above. Include the record URL, the offending text or screenshot, and how you came across it. We acknowledge within two business days and follow up with the action taken — or the reason none was — within a reasonable window after that.
Changes to this policy
Material changes to this policy get a sign-up-screen notice and at least fourteen (14) days’ notice before they take effect. Non-material changes — typo fixes, wording clarifications, contact-email updates, link updates — are applied silently and reflected in the “Last updated” date at the bottom of the page.
Continued use of Makerstead after a material change takes effect is your acceptance of the updated policy. If a change is one you can’t accept, cancel from the billing surface and export your records before the effective date.
